For our clients’ first baby, a boy, we began with a whimsical goose canvas wall hanging to shape the color palette and set the gentle, storybook character of the room. Its tones harmonized beautifully with the existing green-painted walls, dark-stained floors, classic white casings, and window treatments.
A playful plaid scalloped rug introduces texture, while an oversized teddy-bear of a boucle swivel chair provides a cozy “hug” for both parent and baby. A curvy floor lamp in a glossy pop of orange adds a modern counterpoint, and a glowing moon doubles as nightlight and art, casting a soft, enchanting light. We layered in buffalo-check curtain panels, a spindle-detailed blond-wood dresser/changing table, a wood “root” side table and a curved convertible crib designed to seamlessly evolve into a toddler bed.
Honoring the character of this 1930s brick Tudor, we balanced its historic architectural details with contemporary, kid-forward furnishings to create a nursery that will grow gracefully with baby—nostalgic, sophisticated, and irrepressibly sweet.
